Will our Bafang Mid-Drive BBS02/BBSHD Motors fit your bike?Bafang Mid-drive motors are designed to fit in a bike's bottom bracket shell. In order to see if your bike will be compatible with a Bafang mid-drive motor, you will need to find out the size of your bike's bottom bracket.
Please note, bikes with Press-fit bottom brackets (PF30, BB30, BB86, BB92, BB95 and BB121) have larger diameters and will require an additional adapter in order to work with the Bafang Mid-Drive motors. Press-fit bottom brackets are typically found on higher-end (more expensive), newer bikes that were manufactured in the last few years. After searching online and measuring your bike's bottom bracket, if you are still unsure of whether one of our motor kits will fit with your bike please email us the year, make and model of your bike at info@bafangusadirect.com. How do I find out what size and type my bottom bracket is?You can search online for details about your bike's bottom bracket. Many manufacturers list the size and type of bottom bracket on their website. You can also measure the width of your bottom bracket shell. A bike's bottom bracket is the frame tube where the cranks are installed. Measure your bike's frame bottom bracket shell only and not any of your crank hardware as shown in the photo below: ![]() What tools do I need to install the Bafang BBS02/BBSHD motor kit on my bike?The hardest part of the installation process is removing your bike's existing parts, such as your bike's bottom bracket. To remove the necessary parts from your bike for installation of the BBS02/BBSHD, you will the following tools: 1. A 15mm wrench or pedal wrench to remove your bike's pedals. 2. The appropriate bottom bracket tool to remove your specific bike's bottom bracket 3. Allen wrench(es)/screwdriver to remove your brake levers, rear derailleur, and chainring. 4. A chain tool to remove your bike's chain. To install the BBS02/BBSHD on your bike, you will need the following tools: 1. A standard spanner wrench to tighten the lockrings. 2. Trikes and recumbents typically need extension cables, most likely they require Speed Sensor Extension Cables and Battey Extension Cables (depending on where you mount the battery) and may also need Display, Brake/Throttle, and/or Main Wiring Harness Extension Cables. The exact extension cables that you will need depend on your specific setup, so we are not able to tell you what extension cables you will need as it depends on your unique setup. Paired with the mechanical advantage of a rear gear cassette these motor kits can typically achieve speed of 30-35 miles per hour. The BBSHD 1000W motor kit is SERIOUSLY FAST! Wheelies and speeds of over 40mph+ are possible with this motor. The top speed that you can achieve with the BBS02/BBSHD motor kits on your specific bike setup depends on many factors: rider weight, weather, terrain, whether you are pedaling with the motor or not, wheel size, etc. Unforuntately, we cannot guarantee or tell you what speed you will be able to acheive as it depends on a combination of many specific factors that are unique to you as the rider and your specific bike setup.
